It improves the maximum range and tracking of your drones weapons only, if you want better flight range from your ship for your drones you'll need the Drone Link Augmentor I which adds 20km for each one you have fitted and is a high slot module.

Well in Eve if you go to dead End system in Genesis region and warp to Planet 5 moon 5 you'll come across a monolith floating in space. it's the same as the monolith from 2001.

Raven. Though if you want something cheaper a Drake can do the job as can a Ferox. A caracal can also rat reasonably well though it takes a while longer than a BC or BS.
